GROWISE Secures Strategic Seed Investment from CNTTECH
Ag-tech startup Growise has announced that it secured a strategic seed investment from CNTTech, a leading domestic accelerator. This investment, achieved amidst a general downturn in investment within the smart farm industry, is evaluated as a recognition of the market competitiveness of Growise’s profit-oriented smart farm model.
The story of Growise begins with solving the chronic challenges of the smart farm industry: "cost" and "expertise." While many companies focused on flashy exteriors, Growise concentrated on the fundamental issues of massive labor and operating costs incurred during the farming process. This led to the creation of their unmanned automated cultivation system and "GroiPlan," a decision-making platform based on generative AI.
In particular, "GroiPlan AI," set to be unveiled in the first half of 2026, goes beyond mere environmental control. It independently learns from vast amounts of farming data and academic papers, enabling non-experts to operate farms at an expert level. By realizing a structure where "AI does the farming while the company takes the profit," Growise has reduced dependence on high-cost labor and driven practical improvements in performance metrics.
This innovative business model has garnered responses beyond the domestic market and into the global arena. Growise is expanding its global territory by signing a series of strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with major companies in Japan and Saudi Arabia. It has formed a partnership with AML, a leader in Japanese agricultural innovation, to build vertical farms for functional vegetable cultivation. Additionally, with Japan’s Nihon Display Center (NDC), the company plans to develop Japan-customized cultivation bed systems and automation systems for pilot introduction within 2026.
Its achievements in the Middle East are also exceptional. By joining forces with Saudi Arabian infrastructure giant World Bridge Al Saudiya, Growise has established a foothold to dramatically shorten lead times for land acquisition and licensing—the biggest hurdles for domestic companies. This served as a catalyst for elevating Growise's status as a key partner in Saudi Arabia’s food security projects.
A Growise official stated, "This investment is not just about securing funds; it is the market's recognition of the value of the profit-structure innovation proposed by Growise." They added, "Starting with Japan and Saudi Arabia, we will plant a new standard for smart farms where anyone, anywhere in the world, can generate profit."
